What to See and Do
Its main feature is the cathedral (Piazza della Repubblica) which combines a preserved Gothic façade with Spanish remodelling carried out in the 16th century. Dating from the period in which the Spanish held power (lasting a century and a half) the home of the viceryoy in Piazza Eroe dei due Mondi, the fort and the walls around Orbetello still remain.
Also a draw for nature lovers ther are over 140 species inhabiting the lagoon of Orbetello on the Tombolo (the piece of land that connects Monte Argentario and the mainland).
The beach is also the most renowned on the peninsula.
