The Mercato Centrale
in the piazza of this name (open 7am, to 2pm Mon-Fri, to 5pm Sat) is under a glass and iron shelter dating back to the 19th century. It is still a hive of activity and has the fabulous smell of the wonderful fresh produce sold here.
